Plot Synopsis

After surviving a nationwide talent search, a group of "Gran Turismo" gamers compete against each other in elimination challenges at a racing academy at the world-renowned Silverstone Racing Complex as they vie for the grand prize -- a spot on a four-person team to drive a Nissan-sponsored racecar in the legendary 24-hour race in Dubai the following year. Each challenge is designed to test the mental and physical aptitude of the contestants as well as their ability to drive cars from multiple racing circuits. Seasons 1 and 2 featured 16 contestants, while Season 3 includes only 12 finalists. When this series returned for its second season on Thursday, November 1, 2012, the program switch networks from SPEED to Spike TV and featured two new judges. GT ACADEMY returned for its third season on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Spike. Five 30-minute episodes aired each Monday, leading up to a one-hour season finale on December 16, in which a winner was crowned. Over the course of Season 3, the competition included a variety of physical, psychological and athletic challenges in addition to extensive track time in Nissan 370Z NISMOs, Nissan GT-Rs and the Nissan JUKE NISMO. Season 3, hosted by ex-NFL player Dhani Jones, featured returning judges Danny Sullivan and Boris Said and welcomed new judge Rob Barff, a former racer and GT Academy instructor.
On Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:30pm ET/PT, Spike debuted the Season 4 premiere of GT ACADEMY. The 32 fastest Gran Turismo gamers in North America race virtually in Times Square and then battle in real Nissan 370Zs, but only 12 move on to compete at Silverstone, England. Host Dhani Jones and all three judges -- Danny Sullivan, Boris Said, and Rob Barff -- all return for the six-episode fourth season.
