Plot Synopsis

90 DAY FIANCE: THE OTHER WAY is a one-hour reality series that flips the script of 90 DAY FIANCE by following couples where the American gives up everything to permanently move abroad to be with the person they love. Racing against a ticking clock, these six Americans face the challenges of relocating internationally, overcoming major culture shocks, winning over soon-to-be foreign in-laws, and most importantly, trying to make it down the aisle. Will uprooting their lives in the United States pay off or be the biggest mistake ever? On Monday, June 3, 2019 from 9-11pm ET/PT, TLC debuted "All in the Name of Love," the series opener, which highlights four Americans who have found love abroad. Corey must follow his love to Ecuador. Single mom Tiffany takes her son to South Africa. Grandmother Jenny prepares to be with her soulmate in India, and Paul is Brazil-bound. This season features six couples:

Jenny (age 60; Palm Springs, California) and Sumit (age 30; India): Years ago, Sumit catfished Jenny online. After Sumit came clean to Jenny, she forgave him and traveled to India to meet in person. But the four-month trip was cut short when Sumit's parents refused to accept her. Now, Jenny is ready to move to India permanently, leaving behind her children, grandchildren and friends, while Sumit must figure out how he will marry Jenny without his large, traditional Hindu family finding out.

Laura (age 51; Eustis, Florida) and Aladin (age 29; Qatar): Laura traveled to meet Aladin after chatting on Facebook for eight months-- three days into her trip, they were engaged. Aladin is a young, handsome personal trainer, and Laura is afraid their relationship might be too good to be true. Despite her trust issues and insecurities over their 20-year age difference, Laura is preparing to leave her family, two dogs and retired lifestyle behind to move to Qatar, where she'll have to get used to a lifestyle that is much more conservative and restrictive than she's used to. As she battles her culture shock, Laura must attempt to gain the acceptance of Aladin's family while also planning a wedding in Tunisia.

Tiffany (age 27; Frederick, Maryland) and Ronald (age 29; South Africa): While on a trip to South Africa with a friend, Tiffany met and fell in love with Ronald, who quickly proposed. Tiffany said yes, but Ronald neglected to tell Tiffany about his gambling addiction and criminal record. Since Ronald came clean and entered a rehab program, Tiffany needs to decide if she will uproot her eight-year-old son Daniel to move across the world for him, in spite of her hunch that she still doesn't know everything about his dark past.

Corey (age 31; Mill A, Washington) and Evelin (age 26; Ecuador): Corey first met Evelin while on a trip to her small fishing village. After four years of dating, Corey wants to take things to the next level, which means he'll have to move to Ecuador since Evelin doesn't want to live in the U.S. Already having spent tens of thousands of dollars on Evelin and her family, Corey is fully invested in the relationship. But moving to Evelin's hometown will mean accepting a simpler way of life, including poor electricity and no running hot water.

Deavan (age 22; Salt Lake City, Utah) and Jihoon (age 29; South Korea): After hitting it off on a dating app, Jihoon flew to Utah to meet single mom Deavan in person, and they wound up getting pregnant the first night they met. Deavan hopes to get married and move to South Korea, but the language barrier and lack of proposal aren't the only things holding her back: Jihoon's parents may not bless their marriage after the dishonor of getting pregnant out of wedlock. With her three-year-old daughter from a previous relationship and a soon-to-be newborn baby in tow, Deavan must overcome all obstacles in hopes of moving with her children to South Korea to be with someone she's spent hardly any time with in person.

Paul (age 35; Louisville, Kentucky) and Karine (age 22; Brazil): Paul and Karine have a complicated history that began with Paul traveling down the Amazon river to meet Karine for the first time on 90 DAY FIANCE: BEFORE THE 90 DAYS. Now married and with a baby on the way, they're hoping for a smooth future. But when Paul learns he can't afford Karine's visa to America and isn't able to convince his mother to become a co-sponsor, he must come up with a new plan: move to Brazil himself. With only three months to prepare for their baby, will Paul and Karine be able to make things work this time around?

The sophomore season of 90 DAY FIANCE: THE OTHER WAY premiered on Monday, June 8, 2020 from 9-11pm ET/PT on TLC. The sophomore series flips the script on the original show: here, the American is the one giving up everything and moving across the globe to be with the person they love. Racing against a ticking clock, they will face the challenges of relocating internationally, overcoming major culture shocks, winning over soon-to-be foreign in-laws and, most importantly, trying to make it down the aisle. Catch up with two of last season's lovestruck pairs still trying to make it work and meet four new hopeful couples taking the plunge for love. Couples in Season 2 include:

Brittany, 26 (Palm Beach, Florida) and Yazan, 24 (Jordan): Brittany and Yazan knew it was love at first sight after meeting over video chat through Yazan's sister. Now, Brittany is moving to Jordan, but a few things stand in the way. Yazan is a devout Muslim, and Brittany believes she is too independent for religion, has no plans to convert to Islam and her provocative nature may not be accepted by Yazan's conservative family. Additionally, Yazan's family won't let them move in together until they are married, which will inevitably be delayed since Brittany is holding on to a secret that could ruin everything.

Kenneth, 57 (St. Petersburg, Florida) and Armando, 31 (Mexico): After meeting through a gay fathers support group, Kenneth and Armando had an undeniable bond, despite their 26-year age difference. The two are determined to make their love last, so Kenneth is leaving everything he knows behind and moving to Mexico to start a new life with Armando and his daughter. But Armando's family is not accepting of his sexuality and because of this, he has yet to tell them about Kenneth.

Ariela, 28 (Princeton, New Jersey) and Biniyam, 29 (Ethiopia): Ariela, a recent divorcee, had no plans to fall in love again this quickly. While on a soul-searching trip around the world, she met Biniyam in Ethiopia and ended up staying for a couple of months. Before returning to America, Ariela found out that she was pregnant. She decided to eventually move back to Ethiopia for the birth of their baby so that Biniyam could be present. However, the living conditions and healthcare system where Ariela will give birth and live with her new family make her and her family nervous for this big move.

Tim, 34 (Dallas, Texas) and Melyza, 29 (Colombia): Tim was out one night when he spotted Melyza at a bar. He introduced himself, and they hit it off right away. At the time, Melyza was working as an au pair and planned to leave town in a few days, but they had such a strong connection that they decided to try dating long distance with the plan of Melyza eventually moving to Texas. However, Tim did something to lose Melyza's trust, so to prove his love for her, Tim is now moving to Colombia. Melyza's mother also doesn't trust Tim and thinks he has a lot to prove for her to support their relationship.

Jenny, 61 (Palm Springs, California) and Sumit, 32 (India): After uprooting her life once for Sumit, Jenny is once again ready to move back to India for the love she believes is real. Their relationship was thrown off course last season when Jenny found out that Sumit was in an arranged marriage with someone else. After her initial shock, Jenny had no choice but to return to America with nothing but empty pockets and a broken heart. This time around, Sumit is promising that he will never lie again and that he and his wife are finally getting divorced. Jenny is heading back to India with a positive and hopeful mindset.

Deavan, 23 (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Jihoon, 29 (South Korea): After experiencing life as a single mother, Deavan thought that she finally found the man that would be her partner for life. Deavan, her mom and her two children are now going to South Korea so that Deavan and Jihoon can finally start their life together. Upon arrival however, it is very evident that Jihoon and Deavan have several cultural obstacles that they need to overcome, in addition to their language barrier.

Season 3 of 90 DAY FIANCE: THE OTHER WAY premiered on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 8-10pm ET/PT on TLC, featuring two new couples and multiple returning couples:

Steven, 25 (Salt Lake City, UT) and Alina, 20 (Russia): New Couple. Steven, a devout Mormon from Utah, is giving up his life in America to be with Alina, a beautiful Russian woman he met a year ago on a language app. When the Russian border closes because of the coronavirus pandemic, Steven and Alina come up with a backup plan to meet up and marry in Turkey instead. Once there, secrets of Steven's past and Alina's suspicions of infidelity begin to threaten their future together, and Alina questions if she truly knows the man she's about to marry.

Ellie, 45 (Seattle, Wa.) and Victor, 38 (Colombia): New Couple. After falling for Victor while on a trip to South America, the lovestruck couple continued their long-distance relationship for two years. Victor lives on a small Colombian island called Providencia, and Ellie has decided it's time to leave her successful restaurant business and city life in the U.S. for small-town, island living on their little slice of paradise. As she prepares to move, the couple's issues with trust, cheating and financial concerns are dwarfed when category five hurricane Iota passes over the island of Providencia, leaving behind unimaginable destruction. Ellie loses communication with Victor the night before the storm, and after days of silence, she travels to the island, distraught and desperate to locate him.

Kenneth, 58 (St. Petersburg, FL) and Armando, 32 (Mexico): Returning Couple from Season 2. Now that Kenny has moved to Mexico and proposed to Armando, they are ready to dive into planning their beautiful wedding. Armando wants to spare no expense, but Kenny is nervous about how much this wedding is going to cost. One thing they agree on, however, is their concern over whether Armando's family will support them as a gay couple and attend their wedding. First, Armando must open up to his father about his engagement to Kenny. Meanwhile, Kenny and Armando begin to plan long-term. As Kenny grapples with the guilt of missing his children in Florida, Armando brings up the topic of giving Hannah a younger sibling. This opens up a complicated debate over whether they both agree on expanding their family, when and how, via adoption or surrogacy.

Jenny, 63 (Palm Springs, CA) and Sumit, 33 (India): Returning Couple from Season 2. After moving to India and back several times in the wake of extreme relationship challenges, Jenny is now a year into living in India and is losing hope over whether she will ever get to marry Sumit. Her visa has been extended due to the pandemic, but knowing that can't last forever leads the couple to consider how else Jenny might be able to stay in the country. Ultimately, however, Sumit continues to push for his parents' approval to marry, and a surprising solution is presented: Sumit's mother offers to move in with them in order to train Jenny to become more of a traditional Indian daughter-in-law.

Ariela, 29 (Princeton, NJ) and Biniyam, 31 (Ethiopia): Returning Couple from Season 2. Eight months after the birth of their son, Avi, Ari and Bini are still living together in Ethiopia. Their baby bliss is quickly interrupted when Ari shares the news that Leandro, her ex-husband of ten years, has decided to come visit. With their relationship already on shaky ground, Biniyam is convinced that Leandro is only visiting to try and win Ariela back. Then, during a routine pediatrician appointment, Ari and Bini learn that Avi needs hernia surgery. Ari decides that taking Avi to the U.S. to receive medical care is the best option, despite Bini begging her not to go for fear of her never returning, just as his first wife did with their young child. As their disagreements get more and more heated, Ari gives Bini a final ultimatum to save their relationship.

Corey, 34 (Mill A, WA) and Evelin, 28 (Ecuador): Returning Couple from Season 1. With the coronavirus lockdown in Ecuador lifted, Corey and Evelin can finally start planning their wedding. However, things between the couple are extremely rocky after Corey admitted that he almost hooked up with another woman in Peru while he and Evelin were on a break. The truth about this other woman is much more involved than Corey lets on, but he's not the only one keeping secrets. As Evelin's family urges her to reconsider marrying Corey, she drops a huge bombshell.

Season 5 of 90 DAY FIANCE: THE OTHER WAY premiered on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 8-10pm ET/PT on TLC. The series returns this summer on a new night, as seven Americans make the incredible sacrifice of moving across the world for the ones they love. In Season 5, viewers are introduced to new as well as returning couples in the 90 DAY FIANCE universe. One couple has yet to actually meet in-person but is so obsessed with each other that they can no longer stand to be apart. One woman has found the man of her dreams (literally), and another defies the warnings of everyone in her life. All are leaving behind friends, family, home, careers, and possessions to follow their hearts. The couples are:

Brandan (23, Oregon) and Mary (23, Philippines): Despite never having met in person, Brandan and Mary spend every waking (and sleeping) hour on video call with each other. This obsessive and possessive behavior has led their friends and families to oppose the relationship, but not being together is no longer an option for these two. Both have made extraordinary sacrifices to prove their love to one another, and Brandan has invested everything he has into building a home for them in the Philippines. There's no turning back and no backup plan, but Brandan is in for a rude awakening before his plane has even left the ground.

Daniele and Yohan (42 & 33, Dominican Republic): Daniele and Yohan return from the most recent season of The Other Way as they attempt to make a fresh start together. Their new vision for their future involves getting pregnant, buying a home, and starting a business, but their cultural differences and personality clashes threaten to topple everything.

Holly (44, Utah) and Wayne (40, South Africa): Holly, a fairy-tale-obsessed barber from Utah, met Wayne, an entrepreneur who owns his own plumbing business in Johannesburg, on a Jehovah's Witnesses dating site. While friends and family worry about her safety in South Africa, Holly feels that the chance of finally finding her prince charming is worth the risk of moving into a home that has already been broken into three times. Her mother isn't so sure and is coming along to check things out for herself. To add to the pressure, once Holly arrives in South Africa, the wedding date is only a little more than a week away.

Kenny and Armando (60 & 34, Mexico): Kenny and Armando are back, but unlike how you've ever seen them before. They're in a new city and newly at odds. A potential move to Mexico City stirs up a power struggle between the two. As they look into surrogacy, tensions between this normally united pair begin to boil over, shaking the foundation of their relationship.

Tejaswi (TJ) (33, India) and Kimberly (30, Alabama): Kimberly, a clairvoyant based in Alabama, first met her fiance TJ in a dream, before falling for him over social media. After spending time together in India, the two got engaged. Now TJ is planning an elaborate Indian wedding, and Kimberly is frustrated that she's been left out of the process. But it's not just wedding drama ahead for these two - Kimberly is leaving behind her independent American lifestyle to move in with TJ's more traditional family. Once she arrives in India, Kimberly discovers just how little TJ told her about the life she was signing up for.

Kirsten (24, Netherlands) and Julio (27, New York): Julio, a New York based DJ and self-proclaimed "momma's boy," came upon Kirsten on his Instagram explore page and was instantly mesmerized by the Dutch beauty. A week together in quarantine cemented their relationship and now Julio plans to move to the Netherlands. First, Kirsten is coming to New York to meet Julio's mother for the first time. When she arrives, Kristen makes a shocking discovery that leads them both to question the future of their relationship.

Sarper (43, Turkey) and Shekina (41, Los Angeles): During a trip to Turkey, Shekinah, an aesthetician based in LA, met Sarper, a model and personal trainer. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and after only two days, they both fell head over heels for each other. Shekinah's friends and family try to warn her that Sarper is really a playboy, and she is repeating a pattern of falling for an attractive man despite the red flags, but Shekinah insists that this time is different. Once abroad, Shekinah tries to lay down ground rules for Sarper, but he balks at her efforts to control him. The more time they spend together, the more shocking discoveries are made, leading the two lovebirds to question how well they really know each other.
