Plot Synopsis

In this half-hour sitcom, two former detective TV show starlets, Holly Hamilton and Charlie Contour, reunite to put their TV crime-solving skills to the test when a super-fan, Nick Diaz, witnesses a crime and will only speak to the infamous duo. Once the '90s TV crime-solving duo solves the first case, they start a real-life detective agency and investigate a different crime each week. When the series opens, Holly's lamenting the fact that she used to be famous and on a hit '90s TV detective show, MYSTERY GIRLS. Now it's 14 years later and Holly is desperate to regain her former fame. After years spent starring on TV as a detective and having some natural talent, Holly has honed her ability to suss out information from witnesses to crimes. Holly's former co-star, Charlie, has become a suburban housewife juggling her husband, daughter and household duties, and she has little patience for anything that takes her away from that life. Clad in mom jeans and a sensible top, she reluctantly reunites with Holly to encourage the world's biggest MYSTERY GIRLS fan to tell the cops about a murder he witnessed. After recently moved from Ohio to Los Angeles, Nick witnessed a murder, and refuses to give a statement to anyone but his two favorite "detectives": Holly and Charlie from MYSTERY GIRLS. The cop in charge of the investigation arranges for that to happen. Once they're reunited, Holly would like to resurrect her life and use her acting skills and crime "experience" to open a real detective agency, using the money she saved from the TV series to afford the pricey rent in a Beverly Hills office. Charlie initially has no intention of joining in Holly's crazy scheme -- until she sees that the new venture may help up her cool factor with her daughter. Plus, Nick persuades Holly (who's totally on board) and Charlie (who has serious doubts that he's qualified) to hire him as their assistant. In addition to starring in MYSTERY GIRLS, Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth are also executive producers of the series.
