Plot Synopsis

Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL is a one-hour dramedy series that takes place in 1958 Manhattan and centers on Miriam 'Midge' Maisel, who has everything she's ever wanted -- the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent -- one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy... a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson's couch. Amazon released the series pilot on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, and four weeks later -- on April 10 -- greenlit the series for two seasons, the first time Amazon Studios had a new series picked up for multiple seasons. THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL had its official series premiere on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Amazon released the entire eight-episode first season, including the previously released pilot episode. In the first new episode, Midge's life is in a tailspin in the wake of Joel leaving. Midge and Joel's parents butt heads while trying to keep their family together. Susie pushes Midge to get back on stage and find her voice. Then, after another arrest, Midge finds herself in legal trouble, forcing her to rely on Susie's street smarts. Abe approaches Moishe with an interesting proposition. Lenny Bruce offers some unconventional inspiration for Midge's act. Guest stars include: Jane Lynch, who portrays Sophie Lennon, the most famous female comic of her time, playing sold out shows and has been a popular fixture on radio and TV for years; Wallace Shawn, who plays Herb Smith, a self-proclaimed comedy writer who shapes acts, writes jokes, and eats pastrami; and more.

The sophomore season of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL premiered on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Amazon Prime Video released the entire 10-episode second season, starring Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, and Luke Kirby. After Midge's triumph at the Gaslight, the fallout from her takedown of Sophie Lennon looms large, making her climb up the comedy ladder more challenging than ever. As the actual grind of being a comic begins to take its toll on Midge, the pressure to come clean to her family weighs on her -- especially as her choices have a ripple effect on everyone around her. Zachary Levi recurs as a Manhattan doctor who suddenly starts orbiting the Weissman/Maisel world. Jane Lynch returns as comedienne Sophie Lennon.

Season 3 of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL premiered on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Amazon Prime Video released the entire eight-episode new season. In the new season, Midge and Susie discover that life on tour with Shy is glamorous but humbling, and they learn a lesson about show business they'll never forget. Joel struggles to support Midge while pursuing his own dreams. Abe embraces a new mission and Rose learns she has talents of her own. In the season opener, "Strike Up the Band," Midge performs at a USO show ahead of touring with Shy while Susie learns the ins and outs of contract negotiation. Abe and Rose grapple with their new financial situation. Joel finds the perfect spot for his new club until he discovers the space isn't as it appears.

The fourth season of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL debuted on Friday, February 18, 2022, as Amazon Prime Video released the first two episodes of the new season. Two new episodes drop every Friday through March 11. It's 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft -- and the places it takes her -- creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her. Season 4 features guest appearances from Kelly Bishop, Milo Ventimiglia, John Waters, and Jason Alexander.

The fifth and final season of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL premiered on Friday, April 14, 2023 with a three-episode premiere. The remaining six episodes will be released weekly with the series finale on May 26. In Season 5, Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she's dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away. Returning series regulars include Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak and Caroline Aaron. Alfie Fuller (as Dinah Rutledge), Jason Ralph (as Mike Carr) and Reid Scott (as Gordon Ford) have been promoted to series regulars. Also returning are guest stars Kelly Bishop and Milo Ventimiglia.
