Plot Synopsis

MAKING MONSTERS is a reality series that follows a mom-and-pop monster-making shop, Distortions Unlimited, in a small town in Colorado. Co-owners Ed and Marsha Edmunds have led the charge of the animatronics business for the last 30 years and they've joined forces with Jordu Schell, a renowned sculptor, best known for his work on James Cameron's AVATAR, who is still based in Hollywood. From 8-foot Godzilla-like moving monsters and green-gook spitting aliens to guffawing Santa Clauses, their creative and lifelike animatronics populate the country's most popular haunted houses, amusement rides, parties, and private events. Despite his past success, Ed and his crew struggle to produce enough new products for the annual Transworld tradeshow, the premier outlet for selling monsters in the Haunt Industry. In Season 2, Distortions is tasked with some of the most unusual and challenging projects to date, including: a red-eyed, smoke-breathing tiki for a haunt on the Hawaiian island of Oahu; a creepy, spitting, twisting centipede for Atlanta's premier haunt, Netherworld; an iconic stage mask for the rock band Megadeth; a 25-foot skeleton for an outdoor Baltimore attraction; and a larger-than-life custom-made Gatekeeper for Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke's southern California home haunt.

In the show's third season, Distortions works on these projects: a giant podium for Russell Brown; a tricky mirror illusion; an old animatronic KISS band is replaced for the first anniversary; an item for the 20th anniversary of The Darkness in St. Louis; a pregnant zombie; a sawed-off ape; scary clowns; a special creation for The Transworld Halloween & Attractions in St. Louis; and much more.
