Plot Synopsis

LOOKING is a half-hour drama series that follows three friends in San Francisco, as they explore the options available to a new generation of gay men in the Bay Area. Friendship may bind the three, but each is at a markedly different point in his life journey. Patrick is a 29-year old video game designer getting back into the dating world after his ex's engagement. Though surprised by how challenging it is to find a partner, he knows he always has his friends to rely on should his efforts go astray. Agustin, 31, agrees to move in with his long-term boyfriend in Oakland, but is apprehensive about monogamy and the prospect of choosing domesticity over the energy of city life. At 39, Dom is the oldest of the group and is daunted by the success of an old flame, as well as the approach of middle age with romantic and professional goals still unfulfilled. HBO premiered the ten-episode second season of LOOKING on Sunday January 11, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, with Raul Castillo, Lauren Weedman, and Russell Tovey upped to series regulars for the new season. In Season 2, Patrick is on the verge of a new relationship that could complicate life at work and home, even as he tries to salvage a friendship from an old one. Augustin, still floundering from his own breakup, leaves aspirations behind while making a new connection. Dom continues to pursue his restaurant dreams, but encounters obstacles at every turn. In the season opener, "Looking for the Promised Land," Patrick, Augustin and Dom head to Russian River to stay at Lynn's weekend cabin for relaxation an bonding. Though Patrick wants to lay low, the guys end up at a bacchanalian party in the woods after running into a Faerie. Meanwhile, Patrick mulls over what he wants from life in the city, and Dom looks for clues in the house about Lynn's old life.

On Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10-11:30pm ET/PT, HBO premiered LOOKING: THE MOVIE, which wraps up the story of three close friends who explore the options available to a new generation of gay men seeking fulfillment in love and life. After living in Denver for nearly a year, Patrick returns to San Francisco for the first time to celebrate the wedding of old friends. In the process, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind and make difficult choices about what's truly important to him. LOOKING: THE MOVIE debuted 16 months after HBO debuted the Season 2 finale on Sunday, March 22, 2015. In the season ender, "Looking for Home," Patrick makes a discovery that leads him to question what he wants in a relationship. Malik encourages Dom to patch things up with Doris. Agustin's nerves come out at the shelter's mural unveiling.
