Plot Synopsis

LIP SYNC BATTLE SHORTIES, a spinoff of LIP SYNC BATTLE, features real-life kids lip-syncing pop songs in celebration of their favorite artists. SHORTIES first debuted as a one-hour special on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon. Hosted by Sarah Hyland, this program featured four talented kid performers, the Lip Sync Battle Shorties Dance Crew and a supporting cast featuring a kid DJ, M.C. and backstage correspondent. Eight months later, Nickelodeon ordered a 10-episode first season, which debuted in early 2018, with new host Nick Cannon, who also hosted two holiday specials debuting late 2017.

On Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 7pm ET/PT, Nickelodeon premiered "Lip Sync Battle Shorties Halloween Special," hosted by Nick Cannon. In this half-hour special, three hyped-up kid-battlers from across the country use their imagination to personalize their Halloween-themed performances from eccentric decorations to monster-themed costumes. Those going head to head include: Serena, from Staten Island, NY, performing one of her favorite songs "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga; Ethan from Salt Lake City, taking on "Immortals" by Fall Out Boy; and Kea from Honolulu, lip syncing "Rolex" by Ayo & Teo. Plus, Rico Rodriguez surprises the contestants and joins them, along with show sidekick and commentator JoJo Siwa and the Shorties Dance Crew, for a Halloween celebratory performance of the classic "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr.

Two months later -- on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 7pm ET/PT -- Nickelodeon debuted "Lip Sync Battle Shorties Holiday Special," a half-hour holiday special with host Nick Cannon, sidekick JoJo Siwa, and the Shorties Dance Crew. This 30-minute program features three kids lip syncing to their favorite Holiday songs with themed costumes, dancing, and performances to try to take home the Iced Out Mic! Alyssa performs "Underneath the Tree" by Kelly Clarkson, while others belt out Bruno Mars' "24k Magic" and holiday classics like "Little Drummer Boy." Plus, Fifth Harmony make a surprise appearance, performing their song "Worth It."

On Friday, January 12, 2018 at 7:30pm ET/PT, Nickelodeon presented the official series premiere of LIP SYNC BATTLE SHORTIES. In the series opener, "Dinosaurs/Space/Fierce Goddess," Nick and JoJo welcome three Shorties, who sync it up to Beyonce, The Chainsmokers ft. Coldplay, and MC Hammer, with performances that take viewers to the African Savannah, outer space, and a night at the museum!

Season 2 of LIP SYNC BATTLE SHORTIES premiered on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 7pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon. In the season opener, "Havana Block Party, Mardi Gras Celebration, Basketball Court Get Down," the Shorties sync it up to the biggest hits from Camila Cabello, OMI and Katy Perry; the performances are reminiscent of a Havana block party, a Mardi Gras celebration and a basketball-themed dance.
