Plot Synopsis

Primatologist Dr Julie Anderson, writer/adventurer Guy Grieve and their team embark on a six-week expedition to live in a treehouse high above the coastal rainforest of Gabon, Central Africa and get a unique perspective on one of the most extraordinary and least explored ecosystems left on Earth. Their home is 36 meters above ground, allowing them to observe the world's rarest monkeys in their own habitat and to avoid dangerous forest elephants, but they still must endure tropical downpours, searing heat, and huge poisonous centipedes. This series uses aerial, time-lapse and wildlife photographic techniques to show never-before-seen imagery of life in the canopy. BBC1 aired the program on two consecutive nights. Nat Geo Wild showed the United States series premiere on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10pm.
