Plot Synopsis

Based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler), LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS recounts the tragic tale of the intelligent and innovative Baudelaire children -- 14-year-old Violet, 12-year-old Klaus, and infant Sunny -- who are orphaned after the sudden deaths of their wealthy parents and are sent to the home of their closest relative: a greedy manipulative guardian, Count Olaf, who will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents' mysterious death. On Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the eight-episode first season, which is executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, who also directed four of the episodes. On Friday, March 30, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the 10-episode second season of LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. New additions to the cast include (but are not limited to) Lucy Punch, Nathan Fillion, Tony Hale, Robbie Amell, Sara Rue, Roger Bart and David Alan Grier. In Season 2, misfortune bounces the Baudelaires between increasingly horrible places, bringing them closer to solving the mystery of their parents' shadowy past. The new season opens with the Baudelaires beginning life at boarding school and meeting a pair of mysterious siblings whose tragic lives sound eerily similar to their own. While the Quagmires keep up the search, the Baudelaires struggle to balance their studies with a punishing workout schedule, courtesy of Count Olaf. Violet, Klaus and Sunny get new guardians in a fashionable building, where stairs are in -- and the elevator's out. Jacques Snicket trains a recruit.
