Plot Synopsis

Based on characters and adventures of Critical Role's first livestreamed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) campaign, THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA is an animated fantasy-adventure series for adults that follows Vox Machina, a band of misfits with a fondness for boozing and brawling. In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills, but also the strength of their bond. THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA premiered on Friday, January 28, 2022, as Amazon Prime Video released the first three episodes. Three episodes drop each Friday through February 18.

In 2019, Critical Role launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a 22-minute animated special based on the characters and adventures of Vox Machina, their original livestreamed tabletop RPG campaign. They met their initial funding goal within minutes, and thanks to their passionate fanbase, the campaign continued to gain traction, raising over $11.3 million and becoming one of the most funded Film & Video projects in Kickstarter history. The fan support allowed Critical Role to expand the special into a 10-episode season. On Friday, February 18, 2022, Amazon Prime Video released the final three episodes of THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA's first season.

The 12-episode second season of THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA premiered on Friday, January 20, 2023 on Prime Video, as the streaming service released the first three episodes. Three new episodes drop weekly through February 10. After saving the realm from evil and destruction at the hands of the most terrifying power couple in Exandria, Vox Machina is faced with saving the world once again -- this time, from a sinister group of dragons known as the Chroma Conclave. New guest voices for Season 2 include: Will Friedle, Billy Boyd, Henry Winkler, Lance Reddick, Cree Summer, Alanna Ubach, Cheech Marin, Troy Baker, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ralph Inerson, and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Returning guest cast includes Stephanie Beatriz, Indira Varma, Gina Torres, Kelly Hu, and Esme Creed-Miles.

On Friday, February 10, 2023, Prime Video released the final three episodes of THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA's third season. Despite his weakened state, Grog confronts his uncle, Kevdak, in a fight to the death. The battle is intense, with Grog taking a beating at the hands of his uncle's Titanstone Knuckles, another Vestige of Divergence. As Grog is about to fall, the rest of Vox Machina arrives, just in time to join the fray. While Scanlan makes a fateful and shocking discovery about his past, Vax confronts the Matron of Ravens to uncover the truth about the mysterious pact he made with her. At the same time, Vox Machina teams up with Grog's Herd and sets their sights on Umbrasyl, preparing an ambush to take down the dreaded black dragon. As the black dragon Umbrasyl escapes their attempted ambush, Vox Machina pursues him to Gatshadow Mountain. In the fearsome acid-filled tunnels of Umbrasyl's lair, Vox Machina must make a final stand against the evil dragon.

THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA has been renewed for a third season.
