Plot Synopsis

KINGDOM OF THE EARTH is a four-part documentary series that explores the Arctic -- from coast to coast, from the plains to the forests, from the wide and open grasslands of the prairie to the cold and seemingly barren landscapes -- revealing the story of how this land and its wildlife was shaped by humans. First, this series journeys through the secret world of Canada's wettest and most biologically diverse landscape, from the temperate coastal rain forest to the rugged snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Then, this program shows how the Canadian Arctic is inhabited by wildlife and people who have found an amazing variety of ways to survive the vast and seemingly barren landscapes of rock, ice and snow. The third installment ventures from the vast prairies to Canada's vast boreal forest that stretches almost from coast to coast, unveiling a huge wilderness of extremes that has been shaped over millennia by both humans and wildfires. The finale goes on an extraordinary journey from the spectacle of humpback whales feeding on capelin off Newfoundland to the world's largest intact temperate rain forest in British Columbia that is home to the rare white black bear. Nat Geo Wild premiered the first two episodes of this program on Sunday, April 5, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, and the last two installments the following night on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT.
