Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Eddie Jackson and Damarius Phillips (Season 2) and Camila Alves (Season 1), KIDS BBQ CHAMPIONSHIP is a competition reality series that features eight young chefs who compete in a series of red-hot challenges testing their BBQ skills and creativity on the grill. In Season 1, the group of kids competed in weekly elimination challenges, and only one competitor takes home the grand prize: $20,000 and a feature in Food Network Magazine. With themes ranging from a Hawaiian luau competition to a cowboy campfire challenge, each episode also features some of the biggest names in BBQ as guest judges. In the premiere episode, Camila and Eddie greet the kid BBQers in the country, and the competition kicks off with each young chef showcasing their trademark flavors in chicken and side dish challenges. Special guest Tim Love judges the final plates, and the competition ignites with no room for mistakes. Upcoming episode themes include backyard BBQ and state fair, and a guest judge roster with Danielle Bennett, Kardea Brown, Adrian Davila, Graham Elliot and Kent Rollins. The competitors in Season 1 are: Josie Burkhardt (Medford, New Jersey; age 11), Sydney Groves (Euharlee, Georgia; age 10), Paris Hale (Johns Creek, Georgia; age 11), Tyler Zager (Weston, Florida; age 11), Carter Hull (Austin, Texas; age 12), Ty Machado (Seguin, Texas; age 13), L.J. Ruth (Tampa, Florida; age 11) and Jacob Scott (Yazoo City, Mississippi; age 12). On Monday, May 1, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT, Food Network premiered the second season of KIDS BBQ CHAMPIONSHIP, as new co-host Damaris Phillips is joining returning co-host Eddie Jackson to lead the fiery action for a new season with a new format. This season, each episode finds four young chefs entering the outdoor kitchen for two rounds of red-hot challenges and the most successful competitor wins $10,000 and BBQ glory. With cooking challenges from baby back ribs and hearty chuck wagon meals to bison and classic pork and beans, the eight episodes also feature some of the biggest names in BBQ as guest judges, including Shannon Ambrosio, Diva Q, Jess Pryles, Roger Mooking, Kent Rollins and Michael Mixon. In the season opener, "Bacon, Ribs and Roasts" -- which debuts immediately following a six-hour marathon (2-8pm) of encore episodes -- four new kid grill masters cook up a pork feast for Eddie Jackson, Damaris Phillips and guest judge Diva Q in two challenges that are all about the pig. After a first round that tests their bacon skills, three of the kids move to the final round, where they must cook pork three ways for the chance to walk away with the $10,000 prize.
