Plot Synopsis
Ray, a young boy who possesses the rare ability to befriend and duel alongside fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension, joins their ranks while mastering the ancient art of Kaijudo so he and his two best friends, Allie and Gabe, can protect both worlds from evil forces. After dreaming of creatures from another universe his entire life, 14-year-old Raiden 'Ray' Pierce-Okamoto accidentally summoned one of these creature to battle a bully. From that day forward, Ray developed his natural abilities by first studying under the Kaijudo Masters, monks who study "The Way of the Creature," where he meets Tatusrion the Unchained -- an armored dragon/beast kin hybrid known simply as Bob, that battles with his horns, claws, wrist-mounted rocket launchers, chain whips, and a shoulder-mounted howitzer -- and learns to use Kaijudo-dueling with creatures as partners, rather than just using them as weapons. Ray and Allie have been best friends since childhood after they bonded over being raised in single-parent homes. Sassy and quick-witted Allie is fiercely independent and incredibly adventurous, and, as a duelist, she quickly becomes emotionally attached to her creatures, especially in her bond with Squeaky from the mysterious Darkness Civilization. Ray lost to Gabe at a strategy gamers tournament, and they've been friends ever since. Nerdy Gabe now wants to emerge from his self-protective shell, and when he becomes a duelist, he finds he can relate to creatures and people in a way that he's never felt the need to before, especially with his favorite creature, Gargle, who is the prince of the Water Civilization. Together, these three teens fight to protect creatures and people from The Choten, a charismatic evil genius who seeks to exploit the creature civilizations for his own purposes. The Choten is a Kaijudo Master but no longer relies on traditional ways of summoning and controlling creatures; instead, he prefers to use ultra-modern technology and mechanical means to enslave the creatures and control their power. Along with protege Alakshmi, her spooky creature Razorkinder, and his second-in-command, water creature Seneschal, The Choten will stop at nothing to achieve his objectives. On Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 8:30am ET, The Hub aired three back-to-back episodes as a series sneak peek, before showing the official series premiere on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
