Plot Synopsis

In this nationally syndicated courtroom series (check local listings), Judge Judith 'Judy' Sheindlin rules on cases, using her experience as a former New York Family Court judge, who was known for her ability to cut through a dispute and get to the core of the emotional issue at hand. In each 30-minute episode, Judge Judy hears one or two cases, rendering her decision and acting as a moral compass for people seeking guidance, resolution, and a little common sense in their often complicated lives. Typical plaintiffs include: a world traveler, who says his house sitter stole his property and money; a woman, who says a drunken partygoer crashed into her TV and destroyed it; and a mom, who blames the baby sitter when her young son falls off his bike. Season 18 debuted on Monday, September 9, 2013. JUDGE JUDY began its nineteenth season on Monday, September 8, 2014. In the series premiere, a defendant denies revenge-keying a woman's car and an ex-best friend demands bail money payback. Then, in the second episode that same day, a dispute over funeral expenses leads to accusations of domestic violence.

Season 20 of JUDGE JUDY premiered on Monday, September 14, 2015 (check local listings), returning as the #1 half-hour court program for 988 consecutive weeks among homes. In the season opener, "Catfight at a Custody Exchange!," an assault during a custody exchange at McDonald's takes place after a babysitter serves the mother of her client's children with papers alleging abuse. By the end of its twentieth season, JUDGE JUDY will have 5,000 programs and nearly 10,000 cases.
