Plot Synopsis

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, IZOMBIE centers on Liv, a med student-turned-zombie, who takes a job in the Seattle coroner's office to gain access to brains, but finds she must solve homicides to quiet the voices in her head. Liv consumes brains to maintain her humanity. By eating grey matter, Liv avoids decomposition, but she inherits each corpse's memories. The voices and images in her head overwhelm her at first, but she finds the voices disappear when she uses the dead person's final memories to help a detective bring the killers to justice. Though dubious at first about Liv's psychic powers, Clive, a detective newly promoted from vice to homicide, finds she's too accurate to ignore, especially because he's been floundering on his new job during the first two months. Liv also finds a new friend, partner and confidant in Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, an enthusiastic nerd with a brilliant mind, which is a good thing, because her best friend and roommate, Peyton, feels like they're drifting apart. Plus, Liz's former fiance, Major, is trying to make the transition to friend. Even though Liz carefully covers her tracks, Dr. Ravi discovers her secret and is surprisingly excited about the scientific possibilities -- he even helps Liv in her search for Blaine, the zombie responsible for her current undead status, and comes up with what he thinks could be the cure for zombie-ism. When Major faces death as he meets Blaine in a final confrontation, Liv uses half of the cure on Blaine to keep him at bay -- and the other half on Major to save him from becoming the newest member of the undead.

Season 2 of IZOMBIE premiered on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the second season, with Liv's secret now out, she will face new and even more powerful enemies, and old enemies in surprising new forms. And with the zombies of Seattle now the ones mysteriously disappearing, Liv and Blaine reluctantly find themselves on the same side. Unlikely alliances will be struck, relationships will be challenged, and the line between good and evil will blur for both zombies and the fully living. In the season opener, "Grumpy Old Liv," Liv consumes the brains of a cantankerous old man to help gain insight into his death. After receiving an anonymous call on the tipster hotline, Liv and Det. Babineax stop by the residence of Byron Thistlewaite (guest star Adam Rose), to question the mysterious caller. Meanwhile, Ravi suspects that Major might be experiencing a side effect of the cure, and Liv pays Blaine a surprise visit.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 9 pm ET/PT, The CW premiered the third season of IZOMBIE. In Season 3, Liv discovers there are more zombies living in Seattle than she previously believed. In fact, there's a private military contractor employing a small zombie army, and that army is preparing for the day humans learn of their existence. Major finds a job and acceptance in this army. Liv and Clive investigate the murder of a zombie family that may just set off an all-out zombie-human war. Ravi's former boss at the Center for Disease Control shows up in Seattle to investigate the Max Rager massacre. Blaine finds living as a human with no memory of his evil past is more blessing than curse. Peyton pulls at a thread in one of her cases that may lead to the villain that's pulling all the strings. Plus, this season Liv eats the brains and takes on the traits of a dominatrix, a JACKASS-style stunt man, an office gossip, a pre-school teacher, a conspiracy theorist, a dungeon master, and many more. In the season opener, "Heaven Just Got a Little Bit Smoother," though exonerated for the Chaos Killer crimes, Major remains a pariah, and Blaine is accused of lying.

Season 4 of IZOMBIE premiered on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "Are You Ready for Some Zombies?," while investigating the murder of a Seattle Seahawk superfan, Liv has a surprising vision. Meanwhile, Major is assigned the task of mentoring young, homeless zombies, and Ravi is still carrying a torch for Peyton. Lastly, Blaine is dealing with a threat looming from his past. In subsequent episodes, Liv eats the brains of a despicable dowager and must determine which one of her disgruntled servants killed her; a hopeless romantic and can't stop herself from meddling in Clive's relationship; and more.

The CW premiered the fifth and final season of IZOMBIE on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Thug Death," while investigating a murder case with no body and no brain to eat, the only evidence Liv and Clive have to work with is a grainy video and a little bit of blood found at the crime scene. Meanwhile, Blaine is up to his old tricks.
