Plot Synopsis

As he does every year, Linus writes a letter and then waits in his pumpkin patch for The Great Pumpkin to arrive on Halloween night, while the rest of the gang goes trick-or-treating and then attends a party at Violet's house. While the others were given goodies, Charlie Brown, who is wearing a ghost costume with way too many holes, "got a rock" at every house. Will Linus' holiday dream finally come true or will he once again wait hopefully until next year for The Great Pumpkin? After originally premiering in 1966, CBS aired this special almost annually. Since Tuesday, October 30, 2001, ABC has shown this program at least once a year.
