Plot Synopsis

Hosts Tyrese Gibson and Rev Run break down all things relationship with frank and sometimes controversial opinions, celebrity interviews, and relevant experts. Friends for over seven years, Tyrese and Rev Run pride themselves on their varying points of view when it comes to relationships and marriage. Tyrese is a single father in search of his dream woman and Rev Run has been happily married for more than 20 years and is a father of six. Their ideas and opinions on love and commitment often clash, demonstrating the unique chemistry the longtime friends share. In the series opener, Tyrese and Rev Run take polar opposite positions when it comes to sex before marriage. Adding to the charged debate is singer Jordin Sparks, whose own sex life has been a part of the pop culture dialogue since she was 17 years old. Jordin takes issue with Tyrese's progressive approach to sex and tends to more closely align with Rev in his belief that sex is more sacred. Then, Tyrese and Rev welcome a newlywed couple, who made national news when the bride presented her father a "purity certificate" at their wedding reception. Marlon Wayans comes on the show to balance the scales a bit more toward Tyrese's side of the debate, as he takes the already edgy topic to an entirely new level. Finally, the show is capped off by a spoken word performance by Ernestine Johnson. In subsequent episodes, other celebrity guests express their unique perspective, including: Rev Run's wife and reality star Justine Simmons; Vin Diesel; Iyanla Vanzant; Loni Love; Jessimae Peluso; and many more stars speaking about monogamy, modern romance, sex, marriage and dating. Additionally, the series features relationship experts to offer guidance and understanding as it relates to the weekly show topics. Experts include Tracy McMillian, author of the popular Huffington Post article "Why You're Not Married"; Sean Rad, Creator and CEO of Tinder; and Dr. Helen Fischer, a biological anthropologist with a background in human sex, love, marriage and gender differences.

On Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, OWN premiered the season finale of IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S MEN. In the season ender, Tyrese and Rev Run attempt to answer a question that plagues many a modern woman in her quest to find Mr. Right: Why am I still single? The guys are joined by THE REAL co-host Loni Love, comedian Jessimae Peluso and Tracy McMillan, author of "Why You're Not Married...Yet: The Straight Talk You Need to Get the Relationship You Deserve." Tyrese asks Tracy to elaborate on one particularly controversial idea: She says casual sex is the number one reason women are single. Plus, Jessimae and Loni tackle the topic about whether men don't like to date smart, successful, independent women. According to Rev, having a career isn't an issue -- as long as you prioritize your man too. Tyrese agrees with Rev, saving that he finds it attractive when a woman embraces her femininity at the end of the workday. Loni slams this notion, saying, "You want to know why?" she says. "Because sometimes men don't know how to act like men sometimes." Jessimae also jumps into the fray to make it clear that relationships require give and take, and a woman's needs are equally important.
