Plot Synopsis

In 1981, Ritchie, Roscoe, and Colin are young lads, strangers at first, leaving home at 18 and heading off to London with hope and ambition and joy...and walking straight into a virus that most of the world ignores. Written by Russell T. Davies, IT'S A SIN is a five-episode drama series about five friends who grow up in the shadow of AIDS and their determination to live and love more fiercely than ever -- from the time they first meet in London in 1981 through their darkest days 10 years later. IT'S A SIN had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, February 18, 2021 on HBO Max:

Episode 1: September 1981. The lives of five friends converge in a flat together in London. But a distant threat means that life in the 80s might be all too precious.

Episode 2: December 1983. Colin goes to New York. Meanwhile, when an old friend, Gloria, asks Jill for a strange favour, Jill becomes trapped in a world of lies as the shadow of AIDS gets closer.

Episode 3: March 1986. The Pink Palace flatmates are working, falling in love and finding their way in the world. But when terror strikes in the most unexpected way, they must fight like never before.

Episode 4: March 1988. Ritchie embarks on a lonely journey home. Meanwhile, Jill is in danger, and Roscoe's set to collide with Margaret Thatcher, as protests about the AIDS crisis begin.

Episode 5: November 1991. The flatmates rally round as they enter the darkest days of their lives. When Valerie goes on the warpath, it's up to Jill to help Ritchie before it's too late.
