Plot Synopsis

Consumer product genius Reichart Von Wolfshield and his co-host -- physicist Dr. Garrett Lisi (Season 1) or product designer Scotty Ziegler (Season 2) -- scour the United States looking for the next breakthrough invention, as they test newly developed prototypes in their laboratory nicknamed "The Barn." As innovators and scientists with ties to investors, the duo travel the country meeting with inventors. If they agree that there's revenue potential in an invention, they will use their considerable collective experience -- in consumer products, marketing, science and design -- and make that invention come to life, and ultimately to the marketplace. Also, the pair put prototypes to the test and give a tough, no-nonsense evaluation of the invention's potential. If they like what they see, it can mean the inventor will get the investment they'll need to help bring the product to market. Each 30-minute episode focuses on two inventions, but also takes a fascinating look at the inventors themselves, some of whom have sacrificed it all, including money and marriages, to make their creations a reality. Inventions includes: a non-lethal weapon that uses modified paintballs to deter wild animal attacks; the Phone Glove, a cell phone that's built into a winter glove; Easy Down, a safety device for descending from skyscrapers in case of an emergency; a new "weapon" in the battle to keep pesky pigeons away; a device for scraping ceilings; an inflatable shelter to help people in natural disasters; a fall-proof ladder; a cardboard box that's been converted into an Upright Bass; and many other useful and batty items that the hosts evaluated. In Season 2 Dr. Garrett Lisi was replaced by Scotty Ziegler, who is a product designer, car fabricator and self-proclaimed human crash test dummy. Plus, when INVENTION USA returned for its second season, History Channel aired a sneak-peek episode on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11pm ET/PT, only two days before the official Season 2 premiere on Wednesday, November 28 at 10pm ET/PT.
