Plot Synopsis

For almost a thousand years, the Tower of London has been a storied castle, a famous prison, and a royal palace. It has more history than anywhere else in Britain, with new stories added every day. INSIDE THE TOWER OF LONDON is an eight-part "hybrid history" that series goes behind the Tower walls to meet the unique community of curators, conservators, and Beefeaters keeping this institution running in the 21st century. The series also revisits stories from the Tower's past, involving Elizabeth I, the Crown Jewels, the "Nine Days' Queen," and more. INSIDE THE TOWER OF LONDON made its U.S. debut on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.

On Monday, May 24, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT, Smithsonian Channel premiered "Life Inside ," the season finale of INSIDE THE TOWER OF LONDON, which examines life for the Yeoman Warders once they're off duty. Plus, the episode gains unique access to a history-making archeological dig by the Tower's parish church.
