Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1957, the INDY 500 FESTIVAL PARADE has been held on the eve of the INDIANAPOLIS 500. One of the original events produced by the 500 Festival, this parade features celebrities, floats, marching bands and the starting drivers of the The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. NBCSN broadcast the 2014 INDY 500 FESTIVAL PARADE on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 5-6:30pm ET/2-3:30pm PT, with grand marshal Jim Nabors. On Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 4:30-6pm ET/1:30-3pm PT, NBCSN premiered tape-delayed coverage of the 2015 INDY 500 FESTIVAL PARADE, featuring the 1955 Crispus Attucks High School basketball team and its cheerleaders serving as Grand Marshals, tying into this year's theme: "Celebrating the Stories of May." The basketball team, which included NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson, was the nation's first entirely black high school to win a championship.

NBCSN premiered tape-delayed coverage of the 2016 INDY 500 FESTIVAL PARADE on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 10-11:30pm ET/7-8:30pm PT. For this year's parade, the theme is "Experience the Celebration," and 14-year-old Emma Stumpf is the Grand Marshal, the youngest in the parade's 60-year history. After being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at age 7 and undergoing , Emma founded Emma's Art Cart to provide art kits to children that are hospitalized and often confined to their bed. Plus, the parade features appearances by Kevin Sorbo, Nick Gehlfuss, Richard Rawlings, Walk Off the Earth, Roger Penske, Myles Turner, David Anspaugh, Drew Lynch, David Boudia, Joe Reitz, Hugh Thornton, and more.
