Plot Synopsis

To help draw awareness to the hurricane season and the importance of preparation, The Weather Channel has annually presented HURRICANE WEEK, a programming event that includes all-new specials, hurricane-themed episodes, and live coverage from meteorologists. Hurricane season in the United States runs from June 1 through November 30, and The Weather Channel uses HURRICANE WEEK to remind viewers about hurricane preparation, safety tips, and general storm information. HURRICANE WEEK 2005 opened with a one-hour special, SEASON OF SUSPENSE, followed by nightly (Mon - Sat at 8pm ET), back-to-back, hurricane-theme episodes of STORM STORIES. In 2006, HURRICANE WEEK opened with "Katrina: The Lost Episode," a world premiere installment of IT COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW, which was originally scheduled for January 2006 but was delayed after Hurricane Katrina, because the episode projected what could happen if a major hurricane hit New Orleans. The following year, HURRICANE WEEK again debuted with a new episode of IT COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW, focusing on what it would mean for Miami if it were hit today by a hurricane with the strength of Hurricane Andrew, which missed Miami by just 25 miles in 1992. HURRICANE WEEK continued from 2008 through 2011 and then returned in 2013 after a one-year hiatus. HURRICANE WEEK 2013 began on Monday, August 5 through Sunday, August 11, featuring specials -- SANDY: ANATOMY OF A SUPERSTORM and COAST GUARD: HMS BOUNTY RESCUE -- and hurricane-themed episodes of HURRICANE HUNTERS, STORM STORIES, STORM RIDERS, WEATHER CAUGHT ON CAMERA, WHEN WEATHER CHANGED HISTORY, and IT COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW.
