Plot Synopsis

HUNTING HITLER is a docuseries that follows a team of renowned investigators as they reopen the world's most famous cold case in a definitive search to discover if one of history's most notorious war criminals, Adolf Hitler, actually survived World War II. In 2014, the FBI declassified over 700 pages of secret documents suggesting the possibility that Hitler may have survived and fled to South America after the fall of Nazi Germany. Now, Bob Baer, a 21-year CIA veteran and one of the most respected military intelligence minds in the world and premier war crimes investigator Dr. John Cencich lead a team of International military experts on the ultimate manhunt. Throughout the series the experts including International investigators, Nazi hunters, forensic scientists and journalists will examine the compelling mystery surrounding one the most infamous deaths of the 20th Century. With declassified worldwide intelligence providing a wealth of new clues and modern technology never before available, Baer has reopened this 70-year-old cold case to execute a global death claims investigation. From uncovering a mysterious Nazi lair deep in the Argentinian jungle to mysterious plane wreckage in a Columbian marsh, and diving for evidence of a missing U-Boat that could have shuttled Hitler out of Europe as Germany collapsed, the team will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. History aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT. Season 2 of HUNTING HITLER premiered on the History channel on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT. In Season 2, Baer and Cencich continue their investigation to uncover the true fate of Adolf Hitler and the wider Nazi dispatch at the end of WWII. After an exploration last season that took them across thousands of miles and six countries, the duo take their hunt to a new level by gaining access to over 14,000 pages of declassified international documents from every major intelligence agency around the world. With hundreds of new discoveries and promising leads at their fingertips, Baer and Cencich deploy dozens of experts, historians, and military man hunters armed with the most cutting edge technology to uncover the truth. From photographic evidence to the unveiling of a secret Nazi cult in the remote mountains of Chile, the team will stop at nothing in an effort to answer questions that have lingered for over seventy years. The third and final season of HUNTING HITLER premiered on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on History channel. In Season 3, Bob Baer recruits a new asset to help him with his investigation, Nada Bakos, former Terrorist Targeting Officer, and one of the world's foremost experts on terrorist networks. Bakos was on the team responsible for tracking and dismantling al-Qaeda and gathering the intelligence that lead to the capture of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (The Godfather of ISIS), and the biggest prize of all, Osama bin Laden. Together, Baer and Bakos deploy a team in the field that includes U.S. Army Special Forces Sgt. Tim Kennedy; Veteran investigative journalist, Gerrard Williams; U.S Army Green Beret, Mike Simpson; former Chief Inspector and Commander of the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force, Lenny DePaul and World War II historian, James Holland. These operatives will employ local experts and historians armed with the most cutting edge technology, to examine this massive network and take a closer look at how Hitler could have escaped justice. To zero in on Hitler's definitive escape route, Baer implements the man-hunting strategy that intelligence agencies across the globe use to find and capture high value targets, "asset mapping." The team will investigate Hitler's network of top associates, analyzing the roles they played in his potential escape. Enacting the Asset Mapping strategy, the team uncovers two Nazi escape routes out of Germany. Will this new information help them solve the answers to their questions to be able to close the book on this cold case?
