Plot Synopsis

Using the latest genetic and archaeological evidence, Dr. Alice Roberts shows how humans gradually adapted -- culturally and physiologically -- in response to their new environments. Dr. Roberts starts in Africa to investigate the story of how humans left that continent to colonise the world. Her next stop is Northern Siberia to learn how hunter-gatherers survived there on their route from Northern India to China. Then, she finds out how Homo sapiens reached Europe and coped with rival Neanderthals as well as the Ice Age. Next, she looks at how Aboriginals made the seemingly impossible journey to Australia. Finally, she investigates the possible routes taken by humans to reach the Americas. Travel Channel aired the United States premiere of HUMAN JOURNEY on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11pm.
