Plot Synopsis

HOMEGROWN is a half-hour docuseries that follows Atlanta-based farmer Jamila Norman, as she helps families transform their outdoor spaces into beautiful and functional backyard farms while exploring the joy and benefits of growing your own food. DIY Network aired a sneak-peek episode of HOMEGROWN on Saturday, March 8, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT. In this preview, "Patience," Jamila helps the Hartman family renovate their backyard into a beautiful, functioning garden with a chicken coop and banana plants that remind the homeowner of her homeland. On Thursday, July 15, 2021, HOMEGROWN had its official series debut when the first two episodes were released on the Magnolia app -- the same day the app launched. HOMEGROWN made its official linear television debut on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from Noon-1pm ET, as Magnolia Network aired back-to-back episodes.

The sophomore season of HOMEGROWN premiered on Friday, October 29, 2021, as the Magnolia app and discovery+ released the first episode of the new season. In the season opener, "Back to the Basics," Jamilia transforms a suburban family's backyard into a thriving ecosystem, complete with in-ground vegetable beds, a medicinal herb garden, and beehives.
