Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2013, HGTV has given away a smart home to one lucky sweepstakes winner. In this annual special, while viewers can still enter the giveaway, HGTV hosts give an extensive tour of that year's grand-prize residence. The 2013 grand-prize package included a high-tech, shingle-style vacation home in Jacksonville Beach, FL, a 2013 GMC Terrain Denali and $100,000.

The one-hour HGTV SMART HOME 2014 premiered on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on HGTV, as hosts Chris Lambton and Tiffany Brooks took viewers on a tour of the newest smart home. The 2014 grand-prize package includes $100,000 cash, a 2015 Lincoln MKZ, and a a Tudor-style home located in the Nashville, TN community of Duncanwood Reserve.

On Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11pm ET/PT, the one-hour special, HGTV SMART HOME 2015, premiered, during which hosts Chris Lambton, Tiffany Brooks and JD Scott took viewers on a tour of the newest smart home: a modern farmhouse with approximately 2,300-square-feet in Austin, Texas. Plus, the Grand Prize winner will receive the home, a 2015 Mercedes C-Class sedan, $100,000 provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans, as well as all furnishings, tech appliances and artwork.

HGTV premiered HGTV SMART HOME 2016 on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 11pm ET/PT, with hosts Chris Lambton and Tiffany Brooks, who highlight a grand-prize package that includes $100,000 cash, a 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC, and a tech-savvy, three-level traditional craftsman home in Raleigh, NC, featuring 3,300-square-feet, with four bedrooms and five bathrooms, cleverly constructed with tech gadgets.

HGTV SMART HOME 2017 premiered on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT on HGTV. Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, the one-story HGTV Smart Home 2017 is the most technologically advanced home to date and blends beautifully into the desert landscape. Host Jeff Devlin tackles the build from the ground up and shows how to build smart in the sun-drenched desert setting. Designer Tiffany Brooks goes desert-modern to give the home a mod, lux feel with touches of the Southwest, including an 18-foot-high fireplace you have to see to believe. Carley Knobloch techs the home out in all things smart, with automated systems that make life easier and more enjoyable. This nearly 3,300-square-foot, three-bedroom home has it all. he grand-prize package, valued at over $1.5 million, also includes a brand new 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE550e 4MATIC and $100,000.

HGTV SMART HOME 2018 debuted on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 7pm ET/PT on HGTV. Jeff Devlin tackles the build from the ground up, and designer Tiffany Brooks focuses on the interiors, ensuring that the home surprises, entertains and makes life a little easier. Planned by local architecture firm Markalunas Architecture Group and constructed by local builder Shoreline Construction, this year's Smart Home in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina is part of a grand prize package valued at over $1.6 million. In addition to the residence and all its furnishings, the winner will receive a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e Plug-In Hybrid and a $100,000 cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans. The two-story coastal sanctuary is nestled in the private resort community developed by Palmetto Bluff Development, LLC, and sits on the banks of the May River just a short kayak ride from the Atlantic Ocean. The home spans approximately 2,850 square feet and has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. It features smart technology, clever design solutions and energy-efficient materials throughout that blend perfectly with Southern style.

On Friday, April 26, 2019 at 7pm ET/PT, HGTV premiered HGTV SMART HOME 2019, a one-hour special that reveals this year's Smart Home, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Roanoke, Texas. Interior designer Tiffany Brooks and DIY expert Jason Pickens team up to design and build a single-story, Tudor-style home. Planned and built by local firm Highland Homes, this Texas stunner is part of a grand prize package valued at more than $1.2 million that will be awarded this summer. In addition to the residence and all its furnishings, the winner will receive a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE and $100,000 from LendingTree. The modern, custom home is nestled in the Fairway Ranch development, a sustainable community with panoramic views, walking trails, expansive greenbelts, a community pool and parks. The home spans approximately 3,400 square feet and has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths with an aesthetic best described as an Old-World retreat. It features smart technology, clever design solutions and energy-efficient materials throughout.

HGTV SMART HOME 2020 dropped on HGTV on Friday, April 24, 2022 at 7pm ET/PT. Tiffany Brooks and Jason Pickens design and build the Craftsman-style house features industrial touches, modern flair and is loaded with state-of-the-art technology. The winner of the Smart Home 2020 in Pittsburgh, PA will receive this brand new, fully furnished and technologically advanced home, the first-ever 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB and $100,000 from LendingTree, a prize package valued at over $1.5 million. The home was constructed by local builder Infinity Custom Homes and designed by interior designer Tiffany Brooks. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits at over 4,500 square feet. Stepping up to the home, visitors are greeted by a two-story foyer, which leads into the home's dining room located off of the eat-in smart kitchen. Across from the dining room sits the study and off the kitchen is the home's great room, a layout that makes for easy entertaining. Upstairs, visitors will find the master bedroom along with three additional bedrooms, each with their own unique style. The home's exquisite outdoor space includes a back patio that spans the length of the home and an additional patio off the basement. The fully finished basement is another great entertaining space with a game room and seating area. With state-of-the-art smart features throughout every room, the home includes smart solutions such as high-tech digital fitness equipment, app-controlled features such as skylights, mattresses that adjust to ideal firmness, and customizable security system, smart kitchen appliances and bathroom features.

The one-hour HGTV SMART HOME 2021 special premiered on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at 7pm ET/PT on HGTV, after pre-premiering on HGTV GO on Wednesday, April 20. In Naples, FL, Tiffany Brooks and Ty Pennington create the perfect home for enjoying an indoor/outdoor lifestyle as they incorporate plenty of high-tech features for living smart. The winner of the Smart Home 2021 in Naples, FL will receive this brand new, fully furnished and technologically advanced home, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet and $100,000 from LendingTree, a prize package valued at over $1.1 million. This innovative luxury home is one-story and sits at approximately 2,600 square feet with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a two-car garage. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a gorgeous palm tree-lined patio with seating for guests, leading into an entry way that opens into a grand living room with a study to the left. Off of the living room, is a full-service smart kitchen, a breakfast area as well as a hydroponic garden in the pantry. The three bedrooms each have their own unique design and feel as well as their own en suite bathrooms, including a bunk room for kids, a pool room and an expansive master suite. The home's backyard provides a gorgeous lanai ideal for entertaining with multiple seating areas, a dining section with an outdoor kitchen as well as a lap pool. The design is an homage to Florida's indoor to outdoor lifestyle and local wildlife, with bold prints and natural, earthy tones with tons of greenery.

Designer Tiffany Brooks, craftsman Wendell Holland and landscape designer Carmen Johnston reveal and tour the 2022 HGTV SMART HOME in a one-hour special on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 7pm ET/PT on HGTV. The winner will receive the fully furnished Smart Home 2022 in Wilmington, NC, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 and $100,000 from LendingTree, a prize package valued at over $1.2 million. This coastal retreat is a two-story modern cottage sitting at over 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage. Visitors are greeted by a wrap-around porch with cozy swing seating looking out onto the expansive front yard. Upon entering the home, the foyer leads into the office painted in a rich charcoal on the walls and ceiling. The state-of-the-art kitchen is designed with chic green cabinets and bronze hardware, as well as a large island with seating for four, adjacent to a full dining area. The bright and airy living room includes a fireplace and wet bar. The main bedroom is located on the first floor and is designed with natural, earthy tones with black trim, as well as an ensuite bathroom and private patio. The upstairs is home to two guest bedrooms, each designed with nods to Wilmington's coastal lifestyle, as well as a guest bathroom and a playroom that opens onto a deck. The home's interior design is by Tiffany Brooks. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom home sits at approximately 3,095 square feet on nearly two acres of land. With nods to the local culture, the home combines luxury with traditional, infusing technology into every facet of the home. Highlights include a state-of-the art kitchen with technologically advanced appliances including a digital-range hood over the stove, all next to a stylish dining space. The open concept floor plan is filled with natural light and leads you to the many lush outdoor spaces. An outdoor kitchen complete with dining area is perfect for hosting and the backyard features multiple lounge areas, a spa plunge pool and firepit. From the living room bar, drinks and snacks can be sent up via a dumbwaiter to the rooftop deck, providing gorgeous views of the surrounding area. The main bedroom brings together earthy, natural tones with sleek luxurious black and features a large bathroom and expansive closet. Inspired by chic urban style, the home boasts elevated design and tech to bring a sophisticated retreat to life for one lucky winner. The winner of the sweepstakes will receive the home keys, which includes all the furnishings, an all-new, all-electric EQE SUV from Mercedes-Benz and $150,000, a prize package valued at over $1 million.
