Plot Synopsis

Using first-person interviews and archival footage, HEROES & SURVIVORS is a one-hour docuseries that re-tells stories of the worst weather bringing out the very best in people. In desperate situations, the heroic hand of a stranger may be the difference between life and death. But sometimes it's simply our superhuman spirit that keeps us alive. These are the stories of bravery and defiance from some of the most extreme, death-defying weather situations around the world. Each 60-minute episode features two stories, including: heroic state troopers who battle to save drivers -- and each other -- from imminent disaster on a frozen highway; one man who is lost, alone and miles from nowhere in the sweltering heat of the Arizona desert after an afternoon drive went horribly wrong; heroes who battle the cold and current of a terrifying flash flood to reach a couple on a date with disaster; a teenager digs too deep and ends up buried alive on a sunny day at the beach; and many more harrowing stories of survival from around the world.

Season 2 of HEROES & SURVIVORS premiered on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on Weather Channel. In the season opener, "Wildfire & Whitwater," winds whip up a deadly wildfire that torches a town; ferocious ocean waves leave storm watchers stranded; white water rafters are pummeled by rain and rocks during a trip down the Grand Canyon.

On Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, The Weather Channel premiered the Season 2 finale of HEROES & SURVIVORS. In the season ender, "The Race to Survive," tourists must escape an epic flash flood; the hunt for kids trapped in a flooded cave; a rockslide threatens tourists; a day on the lake turns deadly when visitors are caught in a savage storm.
