Plot Synopsis

HEARTLAND DOCS, DVM is a one-hour reality series that follows a Nebraska-based husband-and-wife veterinary team, Drs. Ben and Erin Schroeder, who live and work at the center of America's food chain, where the livelihoods of Midwestern farmers connect to families nationwide. Along with their two teenage sons, Charlie and Chase, the Schroeder family is always on the go as their veterinary practice cares for the region's many animals in need. From winter blizzards to spring tornadoes and blistering summer heat waves, Drs. Ben and Erin overcome the obstacles with skill and heart. In the series opener, "The Little Practice on the Prairie," the Schroeders help farmers and animals deal with the aftermath of record flooding.

The sophomore season of HEARTLAND DOCS, DVM premiered on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In these eight new episodes, Drs. Erin and Ben face some of the most unique cases and experiences to date, including the following: a family trip to the western edge of Nebraska to pregnancy check nearly 700 cows gives younger son Chase the opportunity to learn the art of the "roundup"; a dangerously underweight horse presents a mystery for Dr. Ben, who must ensure the cause is identified before it's too late; a two-day getaway to a wildlife reserve brings everyone closer as they work together to herd endangered bison and witness the breathtaking migration of cranes; and a first-time llama mama gives birth to a baby that provides plenty of drama when it jumps, bucks and squirms in Dr. Erin's arms. When they aren't helping animals, Drs. Erin and Ben are breathing life back into their community with restoration projects, including three office buildings, a farmhouse and a hotel. No matter the critter, case or construction, Drs. Erin and Ben continue to prove the only thing more massive than their height is their hearts.

Season 3 of HEARTLAND DOCS, DVM premiered on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the season opener, "So Hard to Say Goat-bye," Drs. Ben and Erin Schroeder are put to the test with some unruly patients and unexpected emergencies as they prepare for a bitter-sweet goodbye.

The fourth season of HEARTLAND DOCS, DVM debuted on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the season opener, "Lord of the Wings," the Schroeders rush to the rescue when a horse trailer is hit by a car.
