Plot Synopsis

Three people unexpectedly cross paths and start a law practice in the most unlikely of places -- a rundown shoe store. As Harry leaves the building of the law firm from which she was just fired from her cushy job as a patent lawyer, Malcolm lands on top of her when he tried to kill himself by jumping from the building. When Harry leaves the hospital and is looking at a "For Rent" sign for a former shoe store, Adam accidentally hits her with his car. After these chance meetings, Harry defends Malcolm, who later works as her paralegal, and Adam starts working with Harry's law firm, Harry's Law and Fine Shoes, despite her protests. Jenna, who was Harry's assistant at the patent law firm, agrees to continue as her assistant and also run the shoe store. With the firm's success, Harry lands larger cases, moves the firm upstairs to a loft, and hires two new attorneys: young and smart Cassie Reynolds, who has the gumption to stand up to Harry; and confident Oliver Richard, who is one of Harry's former co-workers.
