Plot Synopsis

Produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment -- the production company from Drew Scott, Jonathan Scott, and JD Scott -- HALF-PRICE PARADISE is a half-hour reality series that follows families who move to a new city that's both spectacular and surprisingly affordable. Each 30-minute episode showcases the out-of-towners as they hunt for a home, experience all that the new location has to offer and calculate the savings of the lower-cost lifestyle. In the end, they reveal what they'll gain when they leave their higher-cost lives behind and make the move to their half-price paradise. HGTV premiered two back-to-back sneak-peek episodes of HALF-PRICE PARADISE on New Year's Day 2015 (Thursday, January 1) from 2-3pm ET/11am-Noon PT, but the cable channel had no other episodes on its schedule at that time. In the first sneak-peek episosde, new Jersey natives Amy and Pete are searching for a beach town where they can enjoy the outdoors year round and cut their cost of living in half. Then, in the day's second sneak-peek program, Adam and Mia are ready to leave Chicago, IL, and move 1,800 miles south to the Caribbean island of Utila, Honduras -- with a budget of $350,000.
