Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Stacey Dooley, GLOW UP is a one-hour competition series that features ten aspiring make-up artists battling it out to be named Britain's next make-up star and to win a contract assisting some of the world's top make-up artists. Joining Stacey as the series' judges are industry legends Val Garland and Dominic Skinner, who alongside a different guest judge each week decide who glows and who goes. Guest judges include: Lisa Oxenham, the Beauty and Style Director for Marie Claire; Oscar-winning special effects make-up artist David Malinowski; online make-up sensation Nikkie de Jager (aka NikkieTutorials), whose social media videos have amassed a following of over 11 million.; Caroline Barnes, a make-up artist to the stars who counts Cheryl, Gemma Chan, Emma Watson and Kylie Minogue among her clients; Lan Nguyen-Grealis, a makeup artist who has gained a reputation for her daring and creative looks across editorial, celebrity and fashion; drag queen Kim Chi; and more. Each week, the contestants have one real-world professional assignment, as well as a themed creative task at the Glow Up HQ. The two competitors who fail to impress the judges enter the elimination face-off -- a make-up skill drill under intense time pressure -- with only one returning to the competition.
