Plot Synopsis

This half-hour sitcom introduces Riley Matthews, the tween daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews from BOY MEETS WORLD, with Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles from the original series. GIRL MEETS WORLD picks up the story 14 years later, with Cory and Topanga now living in New York, married and raising quirky five-year-old son Auggie and tween daughter Riley. Riley and her best friend, Maya, traverse the twists and turns of teenage years at Manhattan's John Quincy Adams Middle School, where Cory is their History teacher. Riley is still learning how to be comfortable in her own skin and often turns to her parents for guidance. Best friend Maya appears to have a ton of self-confidence but often leans on the Matthews family when she struggles over her relationship with her single mother. Although opposites, Riley and Maya strike the perfect balance as friends and as individuals -- all while putting themselves in situations that show them who they are and who they want to be. Among their classmates is an intelligent and quirky boy named Farkle and Riley's crush, Lucas, who has relocated from Texas and is adjusting to life in the city with his new friends. Meanwhile, Cory and Topanga have their hands full, juggling their careers and the needs of their family. Cory must walk a thin line between being Riley's dad and teacher while also allowing her to explore her world and make her own mistakes. Topanga, a loving and devoted mother, searches for a way to balance the demands of her successful law practice with the needs of her family and ultimately becomes involved in an interesting business venture. Other BOY MEETS WORLD alumni will reprise their roles in this series, including these guest/recurring stars: William Daniels as the beloved teacher Mr. Feeney; Rider Strong as Cory's best friend, Shawn Hunter; William Russ and Betsy Randle as Cory's parents; Lee Norris as Minkus; and Danny McNulty as Harley Keiner. Plus, GIRL MEETS WORLD featured these additional guest stars: Cloris Leachman; Jane Lynch; Jackee Harry; Willie Garson; Charlotte Rae; and musician Herbie Hancock. GIRL MEETS WORLD premiered at 9:45pm ET/PT on Friday, June 27, 2014 on Disney Channel, immediately following the cable channel's premiere presentation of its Disney Original Movie ZAPPED. On Friday, March 27, 2015 at 8:30pm ET/PT, Disney premieres the Season 1 finale of GIRL MEETS WORLD. In the season ender, "Girl Meets First Date," Lucas asks for Cory's permission to go on a date with Riley, to which he agrees as long as Maya and Farkle go with them. On Monday, May 11, 2015 at 8:30pm ET/PT on Disney Channel, GIRL MEETS WORLD returned for its second season, as the cable channel debuted new episodes each night from May 11-15. In the season opener, "Girl Meets Gravity," Riley and Maya are anxious to begin eighth grade and have a new teacher, that isn't Riley's father. Meanwhile, Mrs. Svorski (guest star Cloris Leachman) asks Topanga to take over at the bakery. Season 3 of GIRL MEETS WORLD premiered on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 8:30pm ET/PT on Disney Channel, with Riley and her best friends beginning a brand-new chapter as they enter high school at Abigail Adams High School. In the season opener, "Girl Meets High School (Part 1)," Riley, Maya, Farkle and Lucas start their freshmen year and quickly learn their place as smaller fish in a much bigger lake. The conclusion of the two-part story debuts Sunday, June 5 at 8:30pm.

On Friday, January 20, 2017 at 6pm ET/PT, Disney Channel premiered the series finale of GIRL MEET WORLD, with William Daniels guest starring as Mr. Feeny.
