Plot Synopsis

This reboot of THE BROTHERS GARCIA chronicles a family based in San Antonio, TX, who are gathered for a summer vacation in their fancy beach house in Mexico. Six cast members from the original THE BROTHERS GARCIA series reprise their roles: Ada Maris (as Sonia Garcia), Carlos Lacamara (as Ray Garcia), Alvin Alvarez (as Larry Garcia), Jeffrey Licon (as Carlos Garcia), Bobby Gonzalez (as George Garcia), Vaneza Pitynski (as Lorena Garcia). The first three episodes of THE GARCIAS dropped on Thursday, April 14, 2022 on HBO Max. Two new episodes debuted each Thursday through May 5, with the finale premiering on Thursday, May 12.

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, HBO Max released "A Latino Hollywood Nightmare," the season finale of THE GARCIAS. The season ender takes a hard look at Hollywood's treatment of Latino actors. When George Garcia is offered a role in the hit show Keeping Up with the Cartels (sans audition, simply based off his "authentic Mexican look"), he finds himself in a Scrooge-esque nightmare where the Ghost of Hollywood Past & Present (guest star Valente Rodriguez) reveals what would happen if his whole family settled for roles that reinforce Latinos as gang members, drug lords, or hired help.
