Plot Synopsis

In the small town of Dillon, Texas, where high school football is a way of life, Dillon High School's new head coach Eric Taylor must deal with the pressure of an expected winning season as well as dealing with the personal struggles of his players and his own family. Eric's wife, Tami, is the counselor at the high school. Because of his on-field success in the first season, Eric accepts a college-coaching job at Texas Methodist University (TMU) in Austin, Texas at the beginning of season 2, but that job is short-lived. He soon returns to Dillon to be with his wife and newborn baby and to takeover his old job as head football coach since his replacement just didn't cut it. In season 3, Tami becomes the principal of Dillon High where she must manage a shrinking budget, a lack of school supplies, decreased teaching staff and student issues. Meanwhile, Eric faces the usual difficulties of being the coach -- quarterback controversies, coaches quitting, and a nationally-televised appearance in the playoffs. At the end of season 3, Eric is forced out as head coach and must take a job at East Dillon High, a school with worn-down facilities, no boosters, and very little football talent.
