Plot Synopsis

After eight years, Food Network rebooted FOOD NETWORK CHALLENGE with a six-episode first season hosted by Ian Ziering and featuring a fresh roster of the country's top cake makers, bakers and sugar artists who try to impress judges Matt Adlard, Keegan Gerhard and Claudia Sandoval. The new version kicks off with "A Christmas Story Cakes," as four top-notch cake artists compete in a celebration of one of the most beloved holiday films of all time: A Christmas Story. From edible pink bunny suits and leg lamps to a visit from Scott Schwartz, who played Flick, there are tons of "oh fudge" moments in this wild ride. Judges Matt Adlard, Keegan Gerhard and Claudia Sandoval determine who wins $10,000 for their Christmas stocking, along with the title Food Network Challenge champion. Themes for subsequent episode include Back to the Future, Pokemon, Monopoly and The Wizard of Oz.

On Monday, January 27, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT, Food Network premiered "Monopoly Cakes," the season finale of FOOD NETWORK CHALLENGE. The episode celebrates the 85th anniversary of one of the world's most-popular board games: Monopoly. Ian Ziering challenges four skilled cake artists to create iconic anniversary cakes that have it all, from treasured game pieces to Park Place. One Challenger will go bankrupt before the end, but another will pass Go, win $10,000 and take home the title of Food Network Challenge Champion.
