Plot Synopsis

FAST FOODS GONE GLOBAL explores how big American food chains are changing the culture around the world by adapting their menus to local tastes and taboos. Plus, the last episode of the series documents how international food chains are introducing their homegrown flavors to Americans. Each 60-minute episode chronicles how food chains affect one region, including: Latin America, where McDonald's introduced empanadas in Cartagena, Dunkin' Donuts unveiled suspiro donuts in Lima, and Baskin Robbins developed caramelized goat's milk desserts in Mexico City; Europe; Africa, where McDonald's offers the McArabia in Marrakech, Dunkin' Donuts makes date donuts in Dubai, and Coke brews Schweppes Malt in Ghana; and Asia, where McDonald's serves a Bulgogi Burger in Seoul, Baskin Robbins sells kiwi sorbet in Japan, and A & W makes mango chicken pockets in Bali. Travel Channel first aired FAST FOODS GONE GLOBAL as a one-hour special on December 28, 2011 at 11pm ET, nearly one year before the program returned as a series.
