Plot Synopsis

FAKE OFF is a reality series that follows ten teams as they compete in elimination challenges in the art of Faking, a mix of Kabuki theater, acrobatics, dance, costume, black light and illusion. In this series, teams reimagine iconic moments in pop culture to see who's got the skills to be named America's Fake Off Champions, as they try to impress a panel of judges. In Season 1, hosted by actor and dancer Robert Hoffman, TLC's Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas, GLEE's Harry Shum Jr., and visual & concept designer Michael Curry judged these 10 teams: ArcheDream, a black light theater troupe from Philadelphia, PA; The Body Poets, a street dance crew from San Diego, CA; Freelusion U.S.A., a video projection mapping dance group from Los Angeles by way of Budapest; Inspirati, a shadow dance company from Denver, CO; Kristef Strikes Back, a comedy acrobatics team from Las Vegas, NV; Lightwire Theater, a luminous puppet theater from New Orleans, LA; PUSH Physical Theatre, an extreme body-movement theater troupe from Rochester, NY; Verses, a silhouette dance group from Los Angeles, CA; Wilderbe, an interactive video projection mapping dance company from Los Angeles, CA; and YFX, a theatrical mime and illusion group from Detroit, MI. FAKE OFF returned for its eight-episode second season on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on truTV, with new host Corbin Bleu. Harry Shum Jr. returns to the judging panel, and is joined by two new judges: actress, choreographer and director Laurieann Gibson and actor, creative director and choreographer Beau Casper Smart. Plus, Meghan Camarena better known as YouTube sensation Strawburry17 serves as backstage correspondent, a new role created this season. The 10 teams competing for the $100,000 grand prize are: Academy of Villains (San Francisco, CA); Astra Dance Theatre (Los Angeles, CA); ClownSnotBombs (Berkeley, CA); CubeMetricks (Los Angeles, CA); The Deca Crew (Brooklyn, NY); JUNK (Philadelphia, PA); LUMA (Pahoa, HI); On The Fly (Indianapolis, IN); The Surrealists (St. Louis, MO); and Tribe of Fools (Philadelphia, PA).
