Plot Synopsis

A British couple has a hit UK show that is turned into a dumbed-down American sitcom starring Matt LeBlanc (as himself). When a successful British husband-and-wife comedy team are lured by Hollywood to produce a new version of their hit series for a stateside audience, they're initially thrilled at the prospects. But they soon realize what the American execs have in store for their precious show -- including replacing the erudite British lead with Matt LeBlanc -- and begin to sink deeper into the quicksand that is the TV business. Before long it's clear that not just the couple's show is at stake, but perhaps even their marriage. At the end of Season 1, Matt slept with Beverly, and Sean quickly sniffed out their rendezvous after catching a whiff of Matt's cinnamon-scented, Joey-branded cologne. Plus, the trio finished shooting the PUCKS! pilot, and, despite their own feelings, the network executives picked up the show after test audiences rated it off the charts. Now, with their relationships in peril, how will Beverly, Sean and Matt come together to transform PUCKS! into a successful series? EPISODES returned for its third season on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Showtime. In Season 3, Sean and Beverly are back together, but they soon discover that it's not so easy to heal old wounds; meanwhile, things get no easier for Matt LeBlanc this year as his career and ego continue to be pummeled. Showtime premiered the fourth season of EPISODES on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT. This season, Matt faces a financial crisis and is forced to make some tough decisions. Matt being Matt, he will likely make the wrong ones. Sean and Beverly have been dragged back to L.A. to shoot more episodes of their disastrous sitcom PUCKS! Meanwhile, their other project, THE OPPOSITE OF US, refuses to go away, and several networks are competing for it. And there's a new network head who will, in all likelihood, make life more complicated for everyone. The fifth and final season of EPISODES premiered on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Showtime. At the start of the new season, several months have passed and the game show is now a runaway hit. Unfortunately for Matt, this means he is now only thought of as a game show host, his years as an actor completely forgotten. Sean and Beverly are equally miserable. Sean's loathsome ex-partner is now in charge of their new show, The Opposite of Us, and Sean and Beverly must now endure his utter lack of humor or talent as they watch him slowly destroy their show. In the season opener, Matt's game show "The Box" is now a runaway hit. Unfortunately for Matt, success also means having daily contact with his producer, Merc Lapidus. Sean and Beverly are forced to work for Sean's loathsome ex-partner Tim after Helen puts him in charge of their new show. Unable to find another job, Carol goes into a dope and real estate show induced tailspin. So Beverly brings her bagels.
On Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, Showtime premiered the series finale of EPISODES. Sean and Beverly learn that Matt has passed on the new show they created for him; Carol continues to pursue her lawsuit against Helen and the network, but an encounter at her deposition may take her life in an entirely unexpected direction.
