Plot Synopsis

In this 40-minute travel series, actor Zac Efron journeys around the world with wellness expert Darin Olien in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live. Zac's journey begins in Iceland, where he soaks in a spa with Darin, while getting an up-close look at the country's renewable energy efforts and views its natural wonders. Then, before heading to Paris to learn about its tap water system, Zac joins pal Anna Kendrick for a lesson in H20, courtesy of a water sommelier in LA. Next, Zac and Darin try out life at a swanky eco-village in Costa Rica committed to a small environmental footprint, visit a wildlife refuge and enjoy a zip lining trip. In Season 1, Zac and Darin also visit: Sardinia; Lima; Puerto Rico; London; and Iquitos. On Friday, July 10, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the entire eight-episode first season of DOWN TO EARTH WITH ZAC EFRON. DOWN TO EARTH WITH ZAC EFRON made its linear broadcast television debut on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on VICE.

Season 2, titled DOWN TO EARTH WITH ZAC EFRON: DOWN UNDER, debuted on Friday, November 11, 2022 on Netflix, as the streaming service released the entire eight-episode new season. In the new season, Zac Efron travels around Australia with wellness expert Darin Olien in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live. The hosts bring viewers to beautiful locales -- from Sydney to the Greater Blue Mountain -- to meet leading eco-warriors and to learn about protected lands and habitat conservation. They seek out sustainable practices in a way that is both educational and enlightening, embracing local food, culture and customs throughout their journey.

DOWN TO EARTH WITH ZAC EFRON made its network debut on The CW on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Iceland," Zac and Darin get an up-close look at Iceland's renewable energy efforts; they also soak in a spa, sample reindeer meat and view natural wonders.
