Plot Synopsis

DOOMSDAY: 10 WAYS THE WORLD WILL END counts down the top ten ways the Earth will meet its demise. Each one-hour episode focuses on a different apocalyptic disaster -- including a killer asteroid, volcanic hyper-eruptions, solar flares, gamma rays, alien invasion, nuclear war, planet collision, Earth out of orbit, a black hole, and more -- and how it could extinguish the human race. The series opener reveals how an asteroid impact 65 million years ago caused a cascade of catastrophes that led to the downfall of the dinosaurs. And then the program asks the question, "What would happen if the same size space rock struck near the same spot again?" The episode predicts how modern humans would cope with a hailstorm of falling rocks and debris, mega tsunamis, out-of-control fires, blast-furnace temperatures, and a destroyed ozone layer.

On Friday, December 30, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT, History premiered the season finale of DOOMSDAY: 10 WAYS THE WORLD WILL END, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the night's first new episode (9pm), "Alien Invasion," when rogue aliens launch a surprise attack on Earth, people are left dying in the streets, world governments are obliterated, cities are destroyed, and a deadly virus is unleashed. Can mankind survive or is this the end? Then, in the season ender (10pm), "Deep Sea Disaster," ocean currents control the climate around the world. When they suddenly stop, it unleashes an endless cascade of weather disasters, including blizzards, superstorms, wildfires, widespread drought, and rapid sea level rise. No place on earth is spared from this climate catastrophe that threatens to end human civilization.
