Plot Synopsis

Bringing new twists to the enduring western genre, ''Deadwood'' begins in 1876, two weeks after Custer's Last Stand at Little Big Horn. On Land deeded to the Sioux Nation only eight years before, what will prove the richest gold strike in American history draws a throng of fortune-seekers to an outlaw settlement. Scoundrels, whores, gunslingers, claim jumpers and reluctant heroes populate the gold-mining camp town of Deadwood. The series combines fictional and real-life characters.
