Plot Synopsis

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day (June 6, 1944), D-DAY SACRIFICE is a two-part documentary that revisits the Allied forces' June 6, 1944 Normandy landings and the days leading up to the liberation of Paris from the Nazis. The two one-hour episodes explore in depth the 80 days between the D-Day landings and the Liberation of Paris, during which an estimated 400,000 people were killed or injured in the battle to overthrow Hitler's dream of Nazi domination. Told through the stories of the civilians, soldiers and leaders whose testimonies were recorded in books or family archives, D-DAY SACRIFICE reveals incredible tales of bravery, tragedy and triumph. Nat Geo aired both episodes of this documentary on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 9-11pm ET/PT.
