Plot Synopsis

From the mind of Discovery's iconic founder John Hendricks, CURIOSITY is a five-year, sixty-episode, multi-platform programming event that answers the most fundamental questions facing the world. Each 60-minute episode focuses on a single question in science, technology and society, with a well-known personality posing the question. In the premiere episode, Professor Stephen Hawking asks, "Did God Create the Universe?" with the episode shown simultaneously on the vast majority of Discovery channels, including Discovery, Animal Planet, Discovery Fit & Health, Investigation Discovery, Planet Green, and Science. Subsequent episodes include: director Eli Roth testing the nature of evil; LOST star Michelle Rodriguez asking how we might survive an alien attack; SUPER SIZE ME filmmaker Morgan Spurlock living as a primitive caveman to see if it actually improves his health; Maggie Gyllenhaal, star of SECRETARY, exploring why sex is fun; Morgan Freeman continuing to show his interest in theoretical physics (THROUGH THE WORMHOLE) by investigating the possibility of a parallel universe; MYTHBUSTERS' Adam Savage testing if we can really live forever; DIRTY JOBS' Mike Rowe revealing the hidden live organisms that call our bodies home; and many more of life's burning questions. Season 2 opens with these episodes: "Plane Crash," in which scientists deliberately crash a passenger jet filled with crash test dummies, video cameras and outfitted with sensors so they can learn what happens during the moment of impact; "The Devil's Triangle," which highlights scientists who dive into the fabled Bermuda Triangle, analyzing its wrecks and testing different theories on real boats and planes in order to reveal the truth behind the legend; "I Was Mummified," which chronicles a radical experiment where a dying man gifts his body to scientists attempting to uncover the secrets of Ancient Egypt's best embalmers; "Brainwashed," which reveals whether we truly are in command of our own minds, as the episodes follows a hypnotherapist and a group of scientists see if ordinary people can be brainwashed and turned into assassins; "X Ray Yellowstone," which explores how scientists use the latest imaging technology to pierce the surface of our most iconic national park and see its habitat and ecosystem from the inside out; and "Stonehenge," which asks the question 'How did the inhabitants move 90 multi-ton stones more than 200 miles across land and sea to the ancient stone circle that has stood for over 4500 years?"
