Plot Synopsis

Using dramatizations, eyewitness accounts, real news reports and expert interviews, CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST follows a small animal control business in Louisiana that starts responding to various calls and sightings, as well as a deputy sheriff who believes the real culprit is some twisted individual deep in the swamp. As the weeks pass, the sightings intensify and even the most skeptical people in town begin to wonder if its darkest legends, and their worst fears, have in fact come to life. One legend concerns the Rougarou, a kind of shape shifter and boogieman. This series brings that legend to life and tells a fictional horror story by weaving in reported sightings, Bigfoot legends and folklore together with real history and information. CRYPTID: THE SWAMP BEAST features experts like: Dr. Jeff Meldrum, a professor of anatomy and anthropology at Idaho State University; Dr. Ronald Markman, who is among Southern California's leading forensic psychiatrists; and Dr. Patrick Krug, a professor at California State University, Los Angeles.
