Plot Synopsis

Annie Walker is a 28-year-old CIA trainee who is thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency when she is unexpectedly promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been plucked from obscurity for her exceptional linguistic skills, there may be something or someone from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. In the blink of an eye, an assignment can go from routine to rogue and when Annie finds herself in situations with no rules or prior training to guide her, all she can rely on is her intuition. As Annie plunges headlong into her new job, she soon realizes it means having to lead a double life, whether it's lying to her family or facing down ruthless terrorists around the world and enemies of the state. But she does find a kindred spirit in a former CIA special operative, Auggie Anderson, who was blinded during a mission. Not only does she rely on his understanding of the intricacies of the massive bureaucracy of the CIA, but she's immediately drawn to his dry wit, self-effacing style, and his encyclopedic knowledge of the CIA. At the end of Season 2 when Annie returns from a deadly mission in Stockholm, she turns to Auggie, the one person who has always been there for her. And just when she realizes she's feeling something for him, he gives her his car on his way to see his new girlfriend Eritrea -- completely blind to Annie's feelings. When Season 4 opened, Annie struggled to balance two new relationships in her life -- a burgeoning romance with Auggie and a professional partnership with Henry Wilcox -- while also searching within Colombia for a new person of interest: the Puma. Then, a revelation rocked the CIA, which put Annie in Germany pursuing Henry and any leads she can find. After the CIA reclassifies Annie as a rogue agent, she's pursued by the government, but Calder meets with her and supports her escape, while reporting back to headquarters that Annie is dead. As the fourth season continues, an emboldened Annie emerges from the life she once knew, because she's now a spy operating off the grid without ties to her agency or the support of her beloved handler, Auggie. Annie knows that tying Henry Wilcox to the disastrous attack in Copenhagen is the best way to bring him down and that's exactly what she aims to do. USA Network presented the Season 4 Fall premiere on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, showing the final six episodes of the fourth season on consecutive Thursdays through November 21. COVERT AFFAIRS returned for its fifth season on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on USA Network. Season 5 picks up with Annie returning to the Agency after having faked her death to go deep undercover to find a traitor to the CIA. The new season examines the price Annie will have to pay for this risky maneuver and the implications it will have on her relationships -- both personally and professionally -- as she attempts to re-emerge into the world she once knew. On Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, USA Network premiered the Season 5 mid-season finale. In this episode, "Sensitive Euro Man," Annie helps McQuaid accomplish a tough mission against Auggie's wishes. Meanwhile, as a threat on U.S. soil appears imminent, Hayley becomes more dogged in her pursuit of the truth. COVERT AFFAIRS returned with new episodes on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on USA Network. After a whirlwind international exploration at the start of the season, Annie finally has her sights set on the culprit behind the Chicago CIA facility bombing: Georgian diplomat Aleksandre Belenko. The season resumes with Annie and Ryan's relationship in a delicate balance. Annie continues working outside the CIA as a private contractor but the task of bringing Belenko to justice will prove to be a challenge. She'll have to throw out the Langley playbook as she begins her investigation into his motives and discovers who else is locked in his sights. Meanwhile, Auggie begins to uncover a mysterious connection between his past and Belenko's targets, while Calder recruits Sydney to infiltrate the Russian Embassy, and Joan protects a secret that could destroy her career.
