Plot Synopsis

While still dealing with the emotional effects of his daughter's death, a disillusioned suburban doctor, Dr. John Ellison, unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy's life. When John learns the boy is still marked for death, he's compelled to save him at any cost. Through this journey, he must compromise his morals, often doing the wrong thing for all the right reasons. Along the way, he's helped by Gretchen, a reckless but capable nurse; his wife, Samantha, who while attempting to support her husband, is struggling with her own issues; his by-the-book coworker, Dr. Bridget O'Neil, who finds herself dealing with the aftermath of his actions. COMPLICATIONS premiered with two back-to-back new episodes on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT. In the series opener (9pm), John finds himself compelled to save Antoine, a young boy whose still marked for death, even though John killed one of his attackers in a drive-by shooting. In the night's second episode (10pm), "Infection," John must find Antoine quickly when he disappears from his bed at the Surgical Center -- or face the consequences of losing a gang leader's son. Gretchen tries to convince a combative patient, Hillary, to lie about her medical condition in order to keep John clear of Bridget's suspicions.

On Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, USA Network premiered the season finale of COMPLICATIONS. In the season ender, "Critical Condition," John and Gretchen's plans to get Antoine home are interrupted by an unexpected complication, forcing John to do everything in his power to save Antoine -- and his own family.
