Plot Synopsis

COLD RIVER CASH is a one-hour reality series that follows three teams of fisherman in Maine, as they protect profitable territory and haul in as many baby glass eels as possible in a two-month window. During the short 60-day season, which begins every March, this show's three teams -- the Eelinators, Grinders and Maineiacs -- work around the clock to catch as many eels as possible, which can cash in at $2,000 a pound. High demand in Asia means the fishermen could earn hundreds of thousands of dollars in a few short months, but with only two months to make a year's income, each team is determined to find the most lucrative fishing spot. The teams are: The Eelinators, a team from Brunswick, Maine, consisting of brothers Dana and Chris Hole and lifelong best friend Ken Cornelison, who brought in a staggering six figures by the end of the previous eel-fishing season; The Grinders, a team from Hebron, Maine, consisting of family man Chad Jordan, Chad's brother Justin Jordan, son C.J. Jordan and friend Lester Toothaker, who stick to one particular fishing hole for long, consecutive hours, living up to its team name; and The Maineiacs, a team Scarborough, Maine, consisting of father and son Lee and Jason Leavitt and Jason's brother-in-law Mike Bradley, who move around to find the best fishing spot and often ends up in the most unconventional places. Animal Planet aired a sneak-peek episode of this series on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 11pm ET/PT, with the official series premiere debuting one week later on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT.
