Plot Synopsis

Three young doctors -- Lucia, Damiao and Enzo -- are sent to a remote village in Pantanal to vaccinate residents against the Zika virus, and they find themselves trapped in an isolated community shrouded in secret, where they clash with a faith healer and are pulled deeper into the mysteries of his cult. In a bold bid for help, Lucia challenges the cult leader to heal a nonbeliever. But the cure takes a surprising turn as the outside world presses in. Curiosity lands Damiao and Enzo in Aguazul's bizarre blue water as Lucia enters the Chosen One's inner circle and attempts to control the message. Netflix released all six episodes of the first season of THE CHOSEN ONE on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.

The world pours into Aguazul -- along with a dangerous force -- as the doctors circle back, and a journalist promises to tell the Chosen One's story. Damiao makes a shocking entrance with ominous news. After a dire diagnosis, Lucia must turn to Enzo while the sick flood into Aguazul by the boatload. Then, as Lucia weakens, Damiao reveals himself. Eva presses for answers, Enzo learns a lesson, and the Chosen One treats everyone to a bloody spectacle.
