Plot Synopsis

Based on real-life events, CHERNOBYL is a five-part miniseries that dramatizes the story of the 1986 nuclear plant disaster in Ukraine, one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and tells of the brave men and women who sacrificed to save Europe from unimaginable disaster. Filmed on location in Lithuania, the miniseries is a tale of lies and cowardice, of courage and conviction, of human failure and human nobility. Stellan Skarsgard plays Soviet Deputy Prime Minister Boris Shcherbina, who is assigned by the Kremlin to lead the government commission on Chernobyl in the hours immediately following the accident.
