Plot Synopsis

CHASING THE DREAM is a reality series that follows LA bluesman Randy Scott and his band, as they travel around the world on their 2012 summer tour, including live performances and guest appearances with renowned blues stars. Their tour starts with a two-day road trip from California to Milwaukee to play the world-famous Summerfest, where Randy is asked to sit in with headliner Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Then, they travel to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where they hope to play for a larger crowd and improve their performance, and Randy sits down with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, who share their journey through music and the hardships of life on the road. Next, Randy heads home to Michigan for some family time before the band plays a series of concerts over the border in Windsor, Ontario. Randy started playing guitar at age 11 and got serious when he attended the Guitar Institute, but he stopped playing completely after struggling with the music business. Nine years after selling his last guitar, he wandered into a Guitar Center, where the store manager heard him play and convinced him to enter the company's 4th King of the Blues competition, which Randy won.
